Learners produce competent production materials for an original audio-visual promo by:
a) setting up appropriate equipment
b) following script/ storyboard
c) following safe working practices
d) following production processes

A) Setting Up Appropriate Equipment

We used two different camera's to record the music video, one belonging to the cinematographer, Flynn, and the other being my own. The majority of the shots record were handheld and we did not use a tripod at all. The only other camera equipment used was a slider which was set up correctly by the cinematographer as he was most familiar with using it.

A sound kit was also used to record the sound at the beginning and end of the video. Then there was the fake blood and syringe used for the SFX scene.

B) Following Script/Storyboard
In order to make sure we followed the script and storyboard during production, shot lists were made for each scene with a description of the shot so that we knew what to shoot on set. There were slight adjustments made as we thought necessary to shots that didn't quite work as we thought they would.

C) Following Safe Working Practices
When setting up any of the equipment, it was done with care for the equipment itself as well as the environment we were in and those within it. Any wires or cables were positioned out of the way to avoid tripping and causing damage to equipment or harm to the cast/crew.

During the sequence involving SFX, I made sure that the actor was not allergic to any ingredients used to create the blood beforehand.

D) Following Production Processes
I took on the role of Producer, Director, and 2nd Camera Operator which, during preproduction, involved communicating with each member of the cast and crew to arrange shooting times, locations, equipment needed, as well as getting location and talent releases signed.

Within the production stage, I was present for every shoot, directing the actors and cinematographer, as well as recording alternative shots with my own camera. I also recorded the sound elements using a sound kit from the college. This involved setting the correct bit rate, hz, file type and levels to record at.

After each shoot, I would upload all of the footage onto my USB, go through it and log everything, naming the files and identifying those unusable.
